An afternoon of poetry and art between Carlisle and Thessaloniki

 

For several years, the ‘SpeakEasy’ event has been taking place once a month in a local Café in Carlisle. People from different generations and backgrounds regularly come together to present their own texts, poems, stories and music in a lively atmosphere.

An AWAZ Cumbria report on barriers to accessing GP service in Carlisle.  This report is the result of a small pilot community-based engagement project commissioned by Cumbria Link, to carry out a qualitative engagement with the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) service users’ of GP surgeries in Carlisle.


Carlisle Unity Festival - 14th July 2018

AWAZ Cumbria, Carlisle One World Centre, Op Shops, Bespoke Minds and other partners are looking forward to hosting the third Carlisle Unity Festival this Saturday 14th July between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. The opening ceremony of the Festival will be led by the Mayor of Carlisle Cllr Jessica Riddle. This is Carlisle’s main annual city centre festival with the message of Connecting Communities, Celebrating Diversity.

Members of the newly formed ‘More in Common’ group will be marking the United Nations  Day against racism and xenophobia by gathering at the Birdcage in Kendal on March 22nd between 10am and 2pm.
