TREC as an organisation that is not just about creating a safe social space for trans people and their allies, but also about creating a more trans positive and friendly environment. Staff and Board members work with external organisations helping develop policy, advising staff, delivering training and being part of a wider trans and LGB&T network. This months session will be about one of these most recent and extremely high impact projects - the Trans Mental Health Study. TREC's own Louis Bailey was one of the co-authors of the report and will talk about some of its key findings for our communities, as well as next steps in terms of improving policy and service delivery. After that we will have a more practical session to explore ways to enable individuals to cope with difficulties that may arise in life through being trans.

Trans Mental Health Study - From February 2012 to September 2012, the Scottish Transgender Alliance, in partnership with TransBareAll, the Trans Resource and Empowerment Centre, Traverse Research and Sheffield Hallam University, have been conducting a ground-breaking new research study into trans mental health and wellbeing. This research represents the largest survey of its kind in Europe, providing vital data on trans people’s mental health needs and experiences and many of you will have contributed to it.

We hope to see you there for a very interesting session.
