Lesbian & Gay Foundation Can You Hear Me? Exhibition

Representing Lesbian & Bisexual Women with Mental Illness

from 20 August

The ‘Can You Hear Me?’ preview exhibition launched on Friday 27 July at 4pm at The Lesbian & Gay Foundation. The main 6-day exhibition, launching on 20 August and will give visitors the opportunity to speak to participants and see our progress.

‘Can You Hear Me?’ is all about challenging the stigma and discrimination faced by lesbian and bisexual women with a mental illness, by encouraging conversations between those who have and haven’t experienced mental health problems, in order to challenge myths and misconceptions.

The project participants have created their very own kitchen spaces, which reflect their experience and will be the setting for these conversations to happen. At this event, you’ll be able to see 5 of our final 14 kitchen spaces, with furniture, decorations and sound, all created by our participants in order to tell their story.

It’s a completely unique opportunity to understand and change the stigma and discrimination, faced by this group of women.

Perhaps you and your group or organisation would like to arrange a tour? For more information, call us on 0845 3 30 30 30 or visit www.lgf.org.uk/canyouhearme.

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation

“The first time I spoke to my GP about feeling depressed, she assumed it was because I was a lesbian. I really wish I would’ve changed GP sooner, because now I have a good one, I can see what a difference it makes.”
