Cumbria Pride 2012 - 29 September 2012 - Swallow Hilltop Hotel, Carlisle
Tickets go on sale on Friday 8 June for this year’s Cumbria Pride event, which will be held on Saturday 29 September from 1pm to 1am the following morning. Visitors are expected to descend on Carlisle’s Swallow Hilltop Hotel for what promises to be a glittering celebration for Cumbria’s LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.
Following the huge success of the 2011 event, organisers are excited that this year’s Pride is shaping up to be a much bigger event have even more sparkle!
Headline artists include Britian’s Got Talent finalists The MEND, X-Factor stars Kitty Brucknall and Craig Colton, rising hip-hop stars The Luminites, girl group VIDA! outrageous comedy drag show - Bears Aloud, and local stars The Future Kicks (formally Promo Girl). Other local performers, dance acts, presenters, DJs and drag queens will also be appearing in a mammoth eight hour live show
Event producer Jonathan Higgins said “This year’s programme of entertainment is bursting with all-star performances, fabulous live music and dance. The carnival atmosphere will be immense! The events team at The Sands is delighted to be using our unique capabilities to help make Cumbria Pride into a showcase event for Carlisle and the wider region.”
Pam Eland, Chairman of the Cumbria Pride Committee said “Since last year’s event, Cumbria Pride as an organisation has grown and we are keen to ensure the LGBT and wider community can enjoy what promises to be a really brilliant day out. We have decided to make a nominal charge for tickets for this year, but feel that they are very affordable and are definitely very good value for money when you consider the superb line up.”
In addition to the main Pride event, there will also be a series of fundraisers including a Barbecue on the banks of the river Eden, behind The Sands Centre, on Sunday 5 August and a variety of fundraisers, including quiz and race nights. or by calling (01228) 633766 (A 50p booking fee is included in the face value of the ticket). Online sales will be subject to an 8% booking fee. Tickets on the day will cost £5.50, available from the venue only.
