Watch this space for updates on Cumbria Pride 2012...

Cumbria is hosting their first big Pride event at the Swallow Hilltop Hotel on the 1 October 2011

Cumbria Pride will be a family event full of music and entertainment for young and old, as well as youth area stalls and information stands to promote diversity in Cumbria. Cumbria Pride aims to bring the whole community together for the first time by having people of all ages and sexual orientations attending the event. We aim to keep people safe and enable them to express who they are in a friendly environment where they can be accepted for their sexuality. Cumbria Pride will not tolerate any prejudice at the event.

Acts at the event include Toyah Willcox, Hazell Dean, Kelly Wilde, Carol Giani, Tatiana Okupnik, and Bears Aloud; there will also be local acts and entertainment for all of the family.

Cumbria Pride needs the support of the community to make people more aware of the diverse community we live in and to gain a better understanding of issues that effect LGBT people. We have support from the Lesbian, Gay Foundation (LGF), which is based in Manchester and covers the north west of England.

Local organisations supporting the event include Cumbria Connexions, DASH, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, HIV Support in Cumbria, Signposts (HIV service), Cumbria Police, Unison, Quakers, Pride in North Cumbria (PiNC), Outreach Cumbria (ORC), CERC, SIS, Royal College of Nursing, Two Castles Housing, Victim Support, Variety Town, CVS, North Cumbria GUM Clinic, Trans Lakes Night Group, Impact Housing, Cumbria Rape Crisis, Dumfries LGBT Centre, Crown Prosecution Service, Parrot Rescue, Victim Support, Barnados, North Region Gender Dysmorphia Service.

Local Businesses supporting the event include Outrageous Cabaret Bar, and the Currock Inn, Carlisle; Basque, the Shoe Boutique, and Kerri's K9 Kamp; the Steam Packet, and Supa Sun, Workington.
