Scores of disabled people’s organisations (DPOs) and other disability charities across England have had their council funding cut or removed completely this year, according to new research.
A new research project is being undertaken across Cumbria to evaluate the benefits and barriers of involving the relatives of people with bipolar disorder in their care.
YOUNG PEOPLE WITH A LEARNING DISABILITY FEATURE IN NATIONAL ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN
Young people with a learning disability will feature in a national TV, radio and print advertising campaign which aims to raise £300,000 for learning disability charity Mencap.
Today, the NHS has released figures showing a worrying trend in the number of young people receiving treatment from the NHS for eating disorders.
The figures indicate that in the last three years 98 children between the ages of five and seven were admitted to hospitals due to disordered eating, alongside 99 aged eight and nine and almost 400 between ten and twelve.
Also around 1,500 teenagers between thirteen and fifteen have been hospitalised for severe disordered eating in the same period.

A WALKING festival drew thousands to Furness.
Barrow and Furness MP John Woodcock launched the five-week Furness Walking Festival at the start of July.
The programme included events aimed at children, with a very popular ‘owl prowl', bat walk and a walk including beach combing.

Glow-in-the-dark condoms will be given to young festival-goers checked for chlamydia in Cumbria.
Luxury loos will be in place at Kendal Calling where people will be able to get checked for the most common sexually-transmitted infection affecting 15 to 24 year-olds.
