From Auschwitz to Ambleside

Exhibition narrating the story of three hundred Jewish children who arrived in the Lake District directly from Eastern Europe in 1945, and the unique community that welcomed them.

As featured in the 2010 BBC One documentary "The Orphans Who Survived the Concentration Camps".

Supported by Heritage Lottery Fund, Cumbria County Council, South Lakes District Council, Arts Council England, North West, Madeline Mabey Trust.

Other exhibitsincludea display relating to art made by children in thenotorious Theresienstadt Ghetto.

Also on show,ReflectionsbyRosemary Smith,a poignant film shot on location in Auschwitz Birkenau in 2008, and powerful paintings byJohn Baldwin.

A selection of photographs from the archives of Another Space showing images from their work, research and travels in Poland and mainland Europe, which illuminate the "Avenue of Exile".
