DIABETES SERVICE USER GROUP RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS

Are you interested in joining this group?  The Diabetes Service User Group consists of people living in Cumbria who have diabetes, or are caring for someone with diabetes.  Its role is to:

  • Be a voice for the diabetic community in Cumbria
  • Influence changes to the diabetes service in Cumbria.
  • Use relevant information to monitor the performance of the diabetes service in Cumbria.
  • Have contact with the individuals who lead the services that are linked to Cumbria Diabetes, e.g. retinal screening, podiatry etc.

Group members offer their experience to monitor the delivery of Cumbria’s diabetes service from a patient perspective, and seek to assist the Partnership Trust to run a good service that is responsive to patient needs.  The group acts as a link between patients/support groups and Cumbria Diabetes.  It usually meets three or four times a year, and is supported by the Partnership Trust’s GP & Stakeholder Engagement Team.  Meetings are informal, and the group will at times invite senior people from Cumbria Diabetes to attend to discuss specific aspects of the service or give a general update.  Group members are volunteers who receive expenses, but are not paid.

We are seeking to recruit another 6 members, and are aiming for a group of 12 or 13 people that is representative of all the localities in Cumbria and includes people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and people who are caring for someone with diabetes.

If you would like to join this group please contact Wendy Forster,  GP & Stakeholder Team,  wendy.forster@cumbria.nhs.uk Telephone 07920 577479 with expression of interest by Friday 28th March.
